Tent and sleeping bag – camping base
It is hard to imagine sleeping in a tent without a tent. But what model do you choose to pack it up on your bike safely and easily overnight? Tunnel tents, which are comfortable and provide good ventilation, work well. A very useful solution is where you can hide your bike during the night. Unfortunately, such tents usually weigh quite a lot, so you can decide for a lighter tent without a vestibule, but then the bike will have to stay outside. The poor solution is to place the bike inside the tent instead of in the vestibule, because not only does everything get dirty from the wheels and sprockets, but you can also damage the tent material by accident.
Another essential thing is, of course, a sleeping bag. The best way to choose the right one is to follow the price. The more expensive it is, the better it holds the heat, which is especially important in the case of overnight stays in a place where the temperature falls really low at night. In addition, you will need a karimata and a small cooker for gas cartridges, on which you can boil water for tea or prepare a dinner. It is also worth to buy water bags that are light and durable, and if necessary they can be hung on a tree and used e.g. as an outdoor shower.
How do I prepare my bike for the trip?
Your bike must be in full working order, so it’s a good idea to have it inspected before your trip. It is necessary to install full lighting and a bottle, preferably two. Oiling the chain is, of course, the basis, as is proper inflation of the wheels. In addition, it is necessary to take with you a repair kit and at least two spare inner tubes, a lock and a chain remover, a mutinar tool and a bicycle pump.
